Business & Industry

The growth and success of the area’s economy is attributed to the exceptional leadership of the local government and business-oriented organizations including the Buffalo Area Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber and the City officials work together to make Buffalo a progressive business and residential community. The goal is for growth of existing businesses while providing numerous incentives attractive to new business and industry.

The City of Buffalo offers a number of financial and tax incentives for businesses and industries interested in building here. The city offers impressively low industrial rates for its municipal electrical service. Tax abatement considerations and special low-cost loan programs can be made available depending on the site and scope of proposed building projects.

Economic development is a priority of the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce. Retail area improvement and beautification receives ongoing attention. Buffalo received the “America in Bloom” national contest award for its focus on tidiness, environmental awareness, community involvement, heritage preservation, urban forestry, landscaped areas, floral displays, and turf and ground cover and community involvement. Each year, the City’s streets are aligned with hanging gardens and in-ground floral displays making the community a very attractive place for visitors as well as those who enjoy living in Buffalo.

Buffalo was also awarded a Star City designation for its exceptional level of city services, high quality of life, and for programs to encourage commercial and industrial growth. One of the highly regarded area of the community, is its downtown business district. With the town built on Buffalo Lake’s border, it is important to keep the downtown retail and business district vibrant. An added feature to the downtown is the splash pad water feature for kids to enjoy cooling off in the summer! That area is a central gathering spot for community events as well and has benches and fireplace for use year round.
